Climate Health Equity Webinar Series: Climate Change, Food Access and Health Outcomes in Greater Cincinnati

November 6, 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The 1-hour webinar hopes to address how climate change has impacted our food access and security and effects on health outcomes in the region, and ways to address this issue not only for the individual but also on a systems change level. This event is part of the “Climate Health Equity” webinar series, which builds on a recently completed report in partnership with Scioto Analysis, “Climate Health Equity – Analyzing the Impacts of Climate Change and Health Outcomes in Greater Cincinnati.” To highlight the findings of this report and accelerate action on key related issues, Green Umbrella will also be releasing a Public Service Announcement toolkit connected to the topics covered in the webinar series.

This event is part of Green Umbrella’s “Climate Health Equity” series, building upon a report in partnership with Scioto Analysis: “Climate Health Equity – Analyzing the Impacts of Climate Change and Health Outcomes in Greater Cincinnati.”

Speaker :
Aileen Lawson

Pantry Manager, CAIN

*Preview to Ohio Soil Health Week*

CAIN not only serves a diverse urban population with culturally appropriate and nutritious foods, they also collaborate with numerous partners to increase food sovereignty and sustainability in the region. These partners include Northside Farmers Market, the City of Cincinnati’s Office of Environment and Sustainability, Freestore Foodbank, and Queen City Commons. The last of these is a woman-owned co-operative that provides composting services to businesses, organizations, and residents. CAIN is a regional leader on how food access points and direct service organizations can contribute to soil health. Aileen leads the organization’s work in spotlighting the problems of “dumping” in the charitable food system and modeling responsible organics waste management through composting.
