Get Involved
There are many ways for nonprofits, governments, school districts, businesses, and individuals to get involved in our work. We’d love to have you join us in our efforts to create a more resilient, equitable, and thriving community!
Check out our 25 Communities Project!

Membership allows you to join our network of sustainability champions and participate actively in the work we’re doing. Membership is open to organizations, businesses, and governments.
Donations are crucial to our work because unlike grants, they offer unrestricted funds that make it easier to get resources where they are needed most.
Climate Action Fellowships are special opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and individuals looking to pivot into a climate career to work with local governments and support their climate planning and mitigation efforts.
Attending an event is a great way to learn about sustainability and meet the people doing the hands-on work of making our region safe, healthy, and resilient.
Green Umbrella members are invited to join any of our ongoing Working Group meetings or apply to join a program team to contribute to critical climate health, community engagement, and planning conversations.
Becoming a leader of our programmatic work is a key way to contribute to important initiatives across food, energy, greenspace, and more.
Many of our 230+ members have volunteer opportunities available for individuals, families, schools, or corporate teams—check our Green Jobs & Volunteer Board regularly to support their work!

My work as a Council Member on the Food Policy Council aligns well with my work in my farm business, serving shared goals to increase access to local, nutritious food and to support regional food systems infrastructure. Advocating alongside other members is empowering, and I'm excited to see the impact on local communities."

Green Umbrella offers excellent opportunities for networking throughout the year with a variety of well-planned events such as their monthly Green Drinks and the annual Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit. The Green Umbrella staff and volunteers provide a genuinely welcoming space for everyone to make connections with others interested in sustainability."
-Melissa McDonald, World Affairs Council

I always suggest to planning/environmental students and young professionals in the region to do themselves a favor and get involved with Green Umbrella. Their events and project teams are great ways to network with seasoned environmental professionals and experts on critical projects from all across the region."
-Travis Miller, OKI Regional Council of Governments

Since Blue Ocean was founded to make a difference by providing a safer and more sustainable water treatment option, it only made sense that one of the very first things we did was to join Green Umbrella and Cincinnati’s 2030 District. Being able to network and exchange ideas with the sustainability movers and shakers in one of the greenest cities in the nation has been a game changer for us. Always looking forward to the next great event!"
- Kathleen Collier, Blue Ocean

Duke Energy has proudly supported Green Umbrella for several years, and we always look forward to the Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit -- which only gets better every year. I really enjoy and value spending time with Chris in a fruit orchard... each time brings new insights and a greater understanding of, and ability to care for fruit trees. I value knowing Green Umbrella's Common Orchard project is cultivating and connecting people and projects all across Cincinnati."
