GREAT PARKS HOSTS E-WASTE EVENTS WITH COHEN RECYCLING

October 12, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free – $10
  • « Fall Migration in the Oxbow & ILPA Big Day Bird Survey with Ann Oliver
  • Shady Lane Preserve Volunteer Day »

Great Parks is renewing its electronics waste recycling team-up with Cohen Recycling through a series of three collection events coming to different parks over three months. Collecting e-waste at these events will divert toxic materials such as heavy metals away from landfills, from which they can find their way into watersheds and wildlife areas.

E-waste from outdated computers and cell phones is a quickly growing concern worldwide. As a conservation leader, Great Parks is helping residents dispose of their e-waste properly while protecting our natural resources for future generations. Great Parks and Cohen also collaborate on a holiday lights recycling program, through which 40 tons of material has been recycled over 11 years.

The upcoming e-waste recycling events are scheduled for 9 a.m. – noon on the following Saturdays:

• October 12 at Woodland Mound
• November 2 at Winton Woods Harbor.

There is no maximum number of items a person can drop off. Devices with a cathode ray tube, such as old televisions and flat screen TVs, require a $10 fee. The full list of materials that will be accepted is available on the Cohen website, and includes:
