Summer Night Nature Hike
Did you ever wonder what the Oxbow was like after dark? Well, here’s your chance!
The Oxbow Nature Conservancy is normally closed from dusk to dawn, but on Tuesday, July 28th fellow Oxbow, Inc. Board members, Wayne Wauligman and John Klein, will lead a guided night walk along the shore of Oxbow Lake. Under a full moon, we will listen for the summer night sounds of birds going to roost, night insects, amphibians and other “creatures of the night”!
The group will meet at the Hardintown (North) entrance at 8:00pm. We will plan to slowly walk from there to the overlook as dusk settles in, then back to our vehicles as night falls. The walk may take up to two hours as we try to ID things that we hear and see. No need for a flashlight, as we’ll have one to check out frogs and turtles, and the moon should light the path for tripping hazards as your eyes adjust. Insect repellent is recommended, but not sunscreen! We hope to see you there!
