The Voyagers
Tuesday, August 12th, 7-8:30PM

Voyager 1 and 2 are responsible for a revolution in our understanding of the outer Solar System. The twin spacecraft, launched in 1977, were tasked with exploring the gas giant planets and their moons, revealing dynamic and mesmerizing worlds along the way. This class will take a look at these groundbreaking missions, including how the Voyager craft are still being used by NASA in the present day.

Galileo at Jupiter
Tuesday, August 19th, 7-8:30PM

In 1995, the Galileo spacecraft was deployed from the Space Shuttle Atlantis, destined to become the first spacecraft to orbit a planet in the outer Solar System. During roughly 8 years spent at Jupiter, Galileo revealed unprecedented detail in the jovian atmosphere, as well as an up close look at the fascinating Galilean moons. Join us to learn about what Galileo was able to uncover about the largest planet in our Solar System.

Cassini at Saturn
Tuesday, August 26th, 7-8:30PM

Launched in 1997, the Cassini spacecraft would become the first to orbit Saturn and went even further by including the Huygens probe, the first lander destined for the moon of another planet, Titan. For well over a decade, Cassini was able to examine the planet, its rings, and its menagerie of moons, while the Huygens lander provided images and measurements of the foreign yet familiar surface of Titan. Learn about the ringed planet from Cassini’s perspective in this class!
