Native Gardening 101

Intended Audience: This program is designed for adult landowners wishing to make the most of their shady areas for native gardening.

Program Description: Glean bright ideas for your yard’s dark places during this introduction to native plants for shade gardens. Anne Cooper of Wild Heart Gardens, LLC, will provide shady solutions and practical tips to help you maximize the shadowy areas in your yard. Includes a 30-minute optional plant walk showcasing native shade species after the lecture.

About the Presenter: Anne Cooper is the owner and founder of Wild Heart Gardens, LLC, which specializes in cultivating native plants. Wild Heart Gardens’ mission is to make native plants accessible while educating others about the vital role of these plants in our ecosystems. Blending a background in permaculture design and organic gardening with a deep appreciation for wild spaces, Anne offers garden consultations and planning to help homeowners create beautiful, ecologically rich home landscapes.

What to Expect: This is an indoor workshop with a presentation, discussion, and Q&A, followed by an optional, slow 30-minute plant walk following the lecture.

Restrooms are available throughout the program.
This program is completely indoors.
Pets are not permitted at Cincinnati Nature Center programs or events.
Program runs rain or shine.
Where to Meet: Registered participants will meet in the auditorium of the Visitor Center at our Rowe Woods location. (4949 Tealtown Road, Milford, OH 45150)
