On February 13, 2024, Dr. Mark Fischer, professor of physics and (more importantly) astronomy at Mount St. Joseph University will talk about the upcoming solar eclipse. He will discuss the mechanics of solar eclipses: the how, when, and why of eclipses. He will explore some of the mythology surrounding eclipses including a connection to early Ohio history. In addition to the science of eclipses, Dr. Fischer will outline some of the science discoveries that eclipses have made possible. Finally, methods for safely viewing the upcoming eclipse will be discussed.
