July 8 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Event Series (See All)
$25 – $37

Registration Requirements: Preregistration required.

Intended Audience: This program is designed for adults and interested youth ages 8 and up, when accompanied by an adult. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Program Description: Called “summer in a bottle,” traditional European elderflower syrup dates back to Roman times. We’ll celebrate our own American elder as we hand-harvest honey-scented elderflowers and walk you through the entire process of making elderflower syrup. You’ll head home with a pint of aromatic syrup, instructions, and our list of top ideas for using it. While we work, we’ll explore elder’s value for wildlife and how to incorporate this native shrub into your own home landscape.

What to Expect: We’ll stay in close proximity to the Creekside barn, venturing into a nearby native edibles plot to harvest elderflowers.

Trails/areas used during this program are rated as accessible (packed gravel trails, mild hills) for a planned distance of 0-0.25 mile at a slow pace.
This program is mostly outdoors with indoor options available in the case of severe weather.
Program runs rain or shine.
Restrooms are available throughout the program.
What to Bring: A water bottle is strongly suggested.

What to Wear: Consider wearing old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
