Habitat Restoration Community Volunteer Day
September 29 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
FreeJoin us as we remove harmful invasive species at Kingswood Park! Volunteers will hand saw/trim plants and trees and help drag them to the chipper area. Invasive species, such as honeysuckle and callery pear, are quickly taking over the wooded areas of Kingswood Park. If not controlled, these invasive plants will cause environmental and economic harm to an ecosystem. Invasive species spread rapidly and quickly shade-out the healthy variety of wildflowers, grasses, and trees. Eventually, an ecosystem is dominated with invasive species. Left with nowhere to live, the bees, butterflies, birds, and other critters move away. By removing invasive species, the Kingswood ecosystem will begin to function as it once did, naturally.
