GREAT PARKS HOSTS E-WASTE EVENTS WITH COHEN RECYCLING

Free – $10Great Parks is renewing its electronics waste recycling team-up with Cohen Recycling through a series of three collection events coming to different parks over three months. Collecting e-waste at these events will divert toxic materials such as heavy metals away from landfills, from which they can find their way into watersheds and wildlife areas.
E-waste from outdated computers and cell phones is a quickly growing concern worldwide. As a conservation leader, Great Parks is helping residents dispose of their e-waste properly while protecting our natural resources for future generations. Great Parks and Cohen also collaborate on a holiday lights recycling program, through which 40 tons of material has been recycled over 11 years.
The upcoming e-waste recycling events are scheduled for 9 a.m. – noon on the following Saturdays:
• November 2 at Winton Woods Harbor.
There is no maximum number of items a person can drop off. Devices with a cathode ray tube, such as old televisions and flat screen TVs, require a $10 fee. The full list of materials that will be accepted is available on the Cohen website, and includes:
• Any item with a cord or that takes a cord
• Computers
• Cell phones
• DVD players
• Video game systems
• Telephones
• Remote controls
• Batteries
• Laptops
• Tablets
• Fax machines
• Keyboards
• Microwaves
• and many other items not listed here.
Light bulbs, wood, paper, cardboard, refrigerators and freezers will not be accepted.
