Thank you for your interest in Green Umbrella’s Climate Action Fellowship Program.

About Green Umbrella’s Climate Fellowship: 

The program leads city, town, township, and county governments through creating climate action plans and/or implementing mitigation/adaptation strategies. Governments join a cohort of peers, and each jurisdiction receives one-on-one guidance, attends cohort training webinars hosted by Green Umbrella and partners, and hosts a 10-week summer fellow.

The fellowship summer 2026 term will run from approximately June to August 2026 with a training in late May. Fellows will work 40 hours/week.

Eligibility:

• City, County, Town, or Township government based in Greater Cincinnati (Green Umbrella's 10-county area: Boone County KY, Butler Co OH, Campbell Co KY, Clermont Co OH, Dearborn Co IN, Franklin Co IN, Grant Co KY, Hamilton Co OH, Kenton Co KY, Warren Co OH)
• Green Umbrella member (learn more about membership here and contact membership@greenumbrella.org with any questions)

Please ensure your membership is up to date and submit your application to host a fellow by completing the form below by March 31, 2026. Expect to hear back from a member of the Green Umbrella team by April 15, 2026.

We specifically encourage applications from underserved communities.

Fellowship Activities:

• Receive training on technical skills, policy, and public sector and community engagement
• Work direct capacity to help kickstart or accelerate your climate action efforts
• Complete project modules related to planning, energy, greenspace, and more

2025 Fellow Timeline: 

• Applications Open - December 15, 2025
• Applications Close - January 15, 2026
• Fellows Selected - February 15, 2026
• Notification of Placement - March 15, 2026
• Fellowship Training - May 26-28, 2026
• Fellowship Term - June 1-August 7, 2026
• Showcase - August 12, 2026 (Tentative)

Cost of fellowship if selected (valued at $15,000):

• Leading Members: $0
• Supporting Members: $0
• Participating Members: $4,000
