Green Umbrella is launching the 25 Communities Project, an initiative that will bring twenty-five new communities into the movement towards a resilient, equitable and thriving region. This ambitious and exciting project will bring the resources, skills, tools, and collaborative connections Green Umbrella has developed over the past 26 years to help historically disinvested communities reduce emissions and prepare for the impacts of climate change. 2025 American Climate Leadership Awards: Nominate or Apply |

Know someone doing great work in climate action? Apply for yourself or nominate an organization or individual climate leader for an American Climate Leadership Award (ACLA) through ecoAmerica. In 2025, ecoAmerica will award more than $200,000 for accelerating climate change advocacy and activation in the United States. Green Umbrella was awarded $10,000 as a 2024 ACLA top 10 finalist; in 2025, it could be you! The deadline to apply or nominate is January 6, 2025. Follow the link here for more information.

Drought Proof Grasses at Cardinal Land Conservancy's Bahr Farm |

Cardinal Land Conservancy’s Bahr Farm was featured in a WCPO piece, focusing on their experiments with new pollinator-friendly plants and grasses in cow pastures. These plants have served to enrich the soil, provide stable root systems, and keep the cows happy. Nick Hartley, Facilities Manager at Bahr Farm, says, “I don’t think farming and environmental issues have to be separate. You can do both.”

Holiday Lights Recycling - December through February 1 |

Great Parks and Cohen Recycling are teaming up to help residents dispose of old or unwanted strands of holiday lights with their holiday lights recycling program. Lights can be dropped in six designated Great Parks locations throughout Hamilton County. Cohen Recycling will recycle the materials, diverting hazardous eWaste from landfills and preventing toxic materials from entering soil and groundwater. Learn more here.
