A Food-Friendly Thanksgiving |
Across the country, an estimated 316 million pounds of food will be wasted this Thanksgiving. You can save money and save food from the landfill by following these tips to reduce food waste this holiday season: |
- Plan ahead! Use a tool like the Save the Food Guest-imator to see how much food you need for your guests - Shop your own pantry before buying surplus items from the grocery store |
| |
|
- Leave no leftovers behind: pack containers to bring leftovers home, encourage guests to bring their own, and provide extras
- Get creative with leftover cooked foods and ingredients! Soups, sandwiches, pot pies, homemade pet food, and more are great ways to repurpose leftovers
- Compost scraps and uneaten food |
