Green Umbrella and Groundwork Ohio River Valley Launch Covington Climate Advisory Group |

Covington community members living in Eastside, Austinburg, and Helentown neighborhoods are invited to join Northern Kentucky’s first Climate Advisory Group! The Advisory Group is a paid focus group where residents come together and create climate action plans to address issues such as flooding, heat, and air pollution in their communities. This initiative is part of Climate Safe Neighborhoods, a program co-led by Green Umbrella and Groundwork Ohio River Valley, that develops equitable community engagement processes to center the voices and priorities of historically underserved communities in climate planning. Covington residents can apply here by October 4th; no experience required!

Green Umbrella brought together leading members and major donors to connect with influencers and stakeholders across the transportation sector at our organization’s inaugural Parlor event over the summer. The evening was filled with networking, a spread of appetizers from Goosefoot Cook and Grow, and an exciting presentation featuring green transportation innovations from Green Umbrella leadership and our friends at Metro. We were excited to host an event where thought leaders and sustainability advocates could come together, think big, and inspire – learn more on our latest blog and stay tuned for the next one.

The conference brings together energy industry professionals from across the production, manufacturing, transit, political, and social web of Ohio. We encourage you to join our team, partners, and other members at the conference this fall for transparent and diverse dialogue about Ohio’s toughest energy challenges. Green Umbrella Member Helps Indiana Communities Grow Urban Tree Canopies |

More than a dozen cities and counties in Indiana have completed or are working on urban forest plans thanks in part to Green Umbrella member, Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources recently dedicated $2M of federal funding for this work to continue. Funds will assist cities in planting and maintaining their trees, developing tree inventories, and hiring and educating employees.

Join the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission and Foundation for Ohio River Education on September 27th at Smale Riverfront Park for the 1st Annual Ohio River Celebration & Environmental Fair. Fair organizers are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this event a success, such as School Group Guides, Vendor Assistants, and Canoe Excursion Helpers.
