Join us for a one-hour webinar about vector borne disease, how climate change has increased the vulnerability for vector borne illnesses in Greater Cincinnati. We will explore how this issue can be addressed on an individual, institutional, and systemic level. |
This event is part of the “Climate Health Equity” webinar series, which builds on a recently completed report in partnership with Scioto Analysis, “Climate Health Equity – Analyzing the Impacts of Climate Change and Health |

Johnson Elementary in Fort Thomas is the first Northern Kentucky school to be designated a Green Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, an award celebrating environment and sustainability practices.
At Johnson, staff and administration said students spearhead many sustainability programs, including the |

school's outdoor classroom. Students designed it — from pollinator-friendly plants to those meant to attract monarch butterflies. “It’s really fun there because it’s calm," fourth grader Faith Bryant said. |

The City of Cincinnati is in the process of identifying brownfields with plans to revitalize them, and both the city and Groundwork Ohio River Valley received EPA grants to make this happen.
A brownfield is a site that's contaminated, making redevelopment difficult. “I’m pretty sure we’re all tired of |

|
seeing the same dusty buildings just sitting there and not being used," said Anthony Smith, a member of Groundwork Ohio River Valley's Green Corp.
“Once these sites are cleaned up, then they become ripe for economic development. So we seek in communities all over the country, revitalization and new life brought to communities," said Debra Shore, the EPA's Region 5 administrator. |

An agreement has been reached on the construction of a new trail that would connect the nearly five-mile span between Lunken Airport and Sawyer Point. The Oasis Trail will be a shared-use, paved trail linking the two landmarks and extending the Ohio River Trail |

west from its current terminus at Wilmer Avenue. It will also allow cyclists, runners and walkers to connect to the Lunken Trail and the Little Miami Scenic Trail.
“This is an incredibly significant moment in trail connectivity, and also a major milestone in addressing the top priority the public has identified for Great Parks – trail expansion and connections throughout Hamilton County,” Todd Palmeter, CEO of Great Parks, said in a recent press release. |

The WQM Director ensures that our water quality monitoring (WQM) program runs smoothly and that the information learned from the program can be used in telling the Mill Creek story. The WQM program offers Mill Creek Alliance the opportunity to connect with the communities throughout the watershed, and the leader of this program is uniquely positioned to build relationships among constituents by driving our community outreach goals. In addition, this staff member engages, organizes, and manages the large number of volunteers who support the WQM and all other MCA programs.
