A message from the Greenspace Alliance Manager:

The smell of autumn is one of my favorites. The smokey smell from a Friday night bonfire. The earthy smell as the summer’s tall grasses give way to fallen leaves. The crisp smell of a dewy and misty morning as fog hangs low over the river valley, masking the morning light in a thick haze of amber.

Shorter days and falling leaves invite us into the ebb of life, providing us with the time to reflect upon the growth that we have experienced over the past nine months. It is an opportunity to adjust the course and prepare for the times when daylight and energy are high.

I recently celebrated my first anniversary as the Greenspace Alliance Manager. Reaching this milestone is not only important to me as one of the newer faces in the Cincinnati metro, but it is also an important milestone for our collaborative efforts in conservation. Our work together may seem like a slow build, but good things take time and I am very much looking forward to seeing how it will snowball come winter.

Cheers,

Claire Carlson

2025, Here We Come!

Greenspace Alliance 2025 Work Plan

Over the summer and throughout the fall, Greenspace Alliance partners contributed to a long-term planning process. These convenings during our monthly meetings informed our 2025 Work Plan. Four project areas -  Grant Funding, Local Government Coordination, Understanding Partners, and Clean Ohio Funding - will guide our work in 2025 and provide a baseline in 2026.

While the plan wasn’t officially approved at our October meeting, I am excited that we have a plan nearly in place. It is our first official step as a re-energized and focused collective – and that is something worth celebrating!

Greenspace Alliance partners: Keep a lookout for an important email regarding our 2025 Work Plan in the coming weeks!

Exploring with the Western Wildlife Corridor

Bender Mountain Preserve

Our November Meet A Greenspace Hike was held collaboratively with Western Wildlife Corridor. The hike took place at Bender Mountain Preserve on a beautiful autumnal day. As participants made their way up the rocky terrain, we were greeted with a picturesque view of the sun setting over the Ohio River. Venturing to Delhi Township to enjoy this landscape is truly worth the drive.
