If there is a mobilizing theme for the 2030 District in 2025, it is Outreach!
Last fall we made the strategic decision to open the 2030 District to building owners and professional service providers located anywhere in Green Umbrella’s 10-county service territory. This year, we are focused on reaching out to those people in communities across the region to let them know about our programs and invite them into our growing community.
We have three major outreach initiatives this year: (1) our 2030 District Intro/Benchmarking 101 Presentations (2) Our Sustainable Building Breakfast Series, and (3) our Cutting-Edge Case Studies. Each of these initiatives, in its own way, is designed to elevate the visibility of the 2030 District and help build our local community dedicated to high-performance buildings.
You will find more details about each of these initiatives down below. I encourage you to learn more about them, attend an event, and share them through your networks. |

If you are a Building Partner of the 2030 District, now is the time to make sure that all your energy and water data for 2024 is completely up to date in Energy Star Portfolio Manager. This is one of the core commitments of being a Partner of the 2030 District and how we track the aggregate progress of the District as a whole, so please make sure your data is current! If you have any questions about how to do this, please don’t hesitate to contact us: greatercincy2030@greenumbrella.org

Coming to a Public Library Near You: 2030 District Intro & Benchmarking 101 |
|
|
As the 2030 District looks to expand beyond its origins in downtown Cincinnati, we are working to get the word out about our value proposition to building owners across the Tri-State. With the help of local residents, business owners, and public officials, we are working to set up in-person presentations in cities and towns across our region. The goal is to introduce people to the 2030 District, our growing community, and the many benefits of resource-optimization in buildings. If you have connections in a township or village anywhere in Greater Cincinnati, and would like to bring our roadshow to your community, please get in touch at greatercincy2030@greenumbrella.org.

Wanted: Cutting-Edge Sustainable Building Projects |
We are working to create a portfolio of case studies of cutting-edge sustainable building projects from across the tri-state region. Our primary interest is to explore the decision-making process behind these projects: what leads a building owner to embrace sustainability as a project priority? Our goal is to create roadmaps for other building owners to follow when they are planning their own capital projects. If you have a suggestion for a project to feature, please let us know: greatercincy2030@greenumbrella.org.

Featured Project: Cincinnati Public Radio HQ |
|
|
Now nearing completion in Cincinnati’s Evanston neighborhood, the new home of Cincinnati Public Radio is the buzz of the Greater Cincinnati sustainable building community. As one of the first buildings in our area to employ “mass timber” instead of concrete or steel, the new Scripps Family Center for Public Media is a model of energy efficiency and environmentally-friendly design.
