Working Groups

Working groups meet quarterly and are supported by Green Umbrella staff and key regional and national partners.

Activating Local Capacity Working Group

Raise awareness of climate impacts and solutions

Increase the capacity of regional governments, organizations, and businesses to act on sustainability, equity, and resilience

Implement equitable action plans, projects, programs, and policies

Create workforce opportunities for the next generation of sustainability professionals, including a Climate Action Fellowship program for local governments

Listening to and Engaging Communities Working Group

Center resident voice, experience, and expertise in local government and community plans, projects, programs, and policies

Engage communities of color, low-income community members, youth, and the elderly through the Climate Safe Neighborhoods Partnership

Equipping Elected Officials Working Group

Share resources with and among regional elected officials about climate change and how to take next steps

Build political will among elected officials to take action on climate in their communities and collaborative on initiatives where possible

Supporting Frontline Communities*

Listen to community needs and co-create meaningful, self-determined engagement of community groups with the Regional Climate Collaborative and local governments

Provide community leaders - especially leaders of color - with resources, technical support, and guidance in their climate efforts

Identify accountability & transparency pathways and opportunities between frontline communities and institutions

*This group is open only to Green Umbrella members that represent community-based organizations and/or frontline community groups (membership scholarships available).

Funding and Implementation Working Group

Develop resources to accelerate implementation across the region

Secure and disseminate federal, state, and philanthropic funding to regional communities
