SUMMARY:Trail Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Registration Requirements: Preregistration required. \nRecommended Audience: This program is designed for adults. Children of any age are more than welcome with the understanding that it is an adult yoga class\, so children under 13 years of age may not be able to do everything or stay interested in the class. Adults will have to decide how much management of their children they are interested in doing. \nProgram Description: Connect to nature in a deeper way through the mindful movement and meditative practices found in yoga. During this on-the-trail experience\, participants might draw upon the stability of trees for balancing postures or extend into a turtle pose by the pond. Become part of nature by meditating in a creek\, hugging trees\, and breathing in the life force around you. All levels are welcome. \nAbout the Guides: Diane H. Schmidt uses her years of experience as a certified Kripalu Yoga instructor to guide others through a gentle yoga experience that brings in elements of nature. As the founder of the first Cincinnati yoga studio\, Cincinnati Yoga School and Bookstore\, Diane has led many yoga classes and developed her style that focuses on gentle stretches and mindful movement to help soothe stress. \nAmber Tucker has been volunteering for several years and has used yoga to heal from a medical setback. In 2024\, she began her Yoga Teacher Training\, inspired to share this path with others. Nature is her sanctuary\, and she looks forward to guiding others in discovering harmony between movement\, breath\, and the natural world. \nWhat to Expect: No prior yoga experience is necessary to enjoy this class. The instructor’s goal is to make yoga accessible for everyone using props and variations\, as needed. Trails and distances will vary between classes\, and we may encounter steps. Intensity is easy to moderate. \nThis program is entirely outdoors.\nRestrooms are available only at the start and end of the program\, as we will be out on the trails during the program.\nPets are not permitted at Cincinnati Nature Center programs or events.\nProgram runs rain or shine.\nWhat to Bring: Guests should bring water\, if the day is hot\, and a hiking stick if they have one\, for fun poses. (We’ll also have plenty of sticks to borrow or find in the forest to use for this purpose as well). A yoga mat is not needed. \nWhat to Wear: Participants should dress in layered\, loose\, comfortable\, athletic clothing—long cool pants suggested as we may step off trail. Hiking shoes or gym shoes are recommended. \nWhere to Meet: Registered participants will meet at the Fernwood Shelter at our Rowe Woods location. (4949 Tealtown Road\, Milford\, OH 45150)\nYou’ll find parking by the Fernwood Shelter or the Nature Preschool. \nCost: Ticket fees include daily admission.

SUMMARY:Nature's Hosts: Collage Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Registration Requirements: Preregistration required. \nIntended Audience: This program is designed for adults and children ages 7 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. \nProgram Description: Autumn’s trees are more than a colorful backdrop—they’re hosts to an incredible community of native insects. In this collage class\, we’ll celebrate the vital relationship between trees\, leaves\, and the caterpillars\, moths\, and butterflies that depend on them. Using layered papers\, natural textures\, and mixed-media materials\, participants will create artwork inspired by the rich colors and forms of the fall landscape. \nAs we explore the changing season\, we’ll look closely at how native trees support the life cycles of countless insects\, providing food\, shelter\, and places to grow. From leaves nibbled by hungry caterpillars to the hidden beauty of moths and butterflies preparing for winter\, students will capture these connections through creative collage techniques. This class invites artists of all experience levels to observe\, appreciate\, and celebrate the living relationships that make autumn landscapes thrive. No prior experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to explore art through the lens of nature’s seasonal rhythms. \nAbout the Instructor: Tammie Lyon is the award-winning author and illustrator of well over 100 titles for children. She has worked on many well-known book series from Eloise to her current Katie Woo not to mention numerous picture books\, baby board books and magazines. \nAs the illustrator of the Katie Woo and Pedro series\, Tammie says that these characters are two of her favorites. She is now hard at work on The Katie and Pedro Mystery series as well as the new Katie and Jo-Jo on the go. The Katie Woo character has become much more popular than she could have imagined spawning book clubs\, and school fan clubs across the globe. \nTammie has illustrated numerous books for children\, creating work for Disney\, Scholastic\, Simon and Schuster\, Penguin\, HarperCollins and Amazon Publishing to name a few. \nTammie lives in Cincinnati\, Ohio with her husband Lee and two dogs\, Amos and Artie. Children must be accompanied by an adult. \nProgram Description: Autumn’s trees are more than a colorful backdrop—they’re hosts to an incredible community of native insects.
As the founder of the first Cincinnati yoga studio\, Cincinnati Yoga School and Bookstore\, Diane has led many yoga classes and developed her style that focuses on the gentle stretches and mindful movement to help soothe stress. \nThis program is entirely outdoors.\nRestrooms are available only at the start and end of the program\, as we will be out on the trails during the program.\nProgram runs rain or shine.\nWhat to Bring: Guests should bring water if the day is hot\, and a hiking stick if you have one for fun poses. (We will also have plenty of sticks to borrow or find in the forest to use for this purpose as well). A yoga mat is not needed. \nWhat to Wear: Participants should dress in layered\, loose\, comfortable\, athletic clothing—long cool pants suggested as we may step off trail. Hiking shoes or gym shoes are recommended. \nWhere to Meet: See specific meeting date for varying locations. \nCost: Ticket fees include daily admission.
