Cohen Recycling will then recycle the materials\, diverting hazardous eWaste from landfills and preventing toxic materials from entering soil and groundwater. \nBoth LED and traditional string lights can be dropped in marked bins at these locations:\nFarbach-Werner Nature Preserve – Ellenwood Nature Barn\nGlenwood Gardens – Gatehouse\nMiami Whitewater Forest – Visitor Center\nSharon Woods – Sharon Centre\nWinton Woods – Winton Centre\, front and side lobbies\nWoodland Mound – Breezy Point Pavilion. \nOnly lights and their wiring should be dropped off\, not bags or boxes used to carry them\, or other recyclable materials. \nGreat Parks is a conservation leader and the largest landowner in Hamilton County\, hosting programs like this which preserve and protect its more than 18\,000 acres of land. Great Parks and Cohen Recycling are now entering the eleventh year of the program\, which reflects an emphasis on conservation shared by both organizations. Residents have recycled more than 40 tons of holiday lights through the program since 2014.

SUMMARY:2023 Fall Orchard Installations
DESCRIPTION:Join the Common Orchard Project in creating a new public orchard! \nOrchards can be less work to produce food over time compared to vegetable gardens\, but installation is quite labor intensive. To get these new public orchards off to a good start\, we are organizing these volunteer days to make the work lighter for all! Come learn how to plant trees\, fruit tree care\, and meet neighbors who care as much as you do. \nTypically we will be planting 10-15 trees and laying down black plastic to remove the grass. If you are looking for a snapshot into what this might look like\, check out this video we created with a funding partner last year. \nAll tools and gloves provided\, just bring a water bottle and wear appropriate outdoor clothing to dig holes and plant trees. We will have locally grown fruit and other snacks. \nAdditional Information: \nIf you are able to join and sign up\, please do follow through! It changes our plans and makes these days difficult if people change their minds at the last minute. We will give a reminder and notice of any extreme weather related changes of plans 2 days before the event. \nFALL ORCHARD INSTALLATION SCHEDULE: \nThursday\, October 5 @ 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm\nRising Stars at Carthage\n125 W North Bend Rd\, Cincinnati\, OH 45216\nRegister here \nThursday\, October 12 @ 9:00 am to 12:00 pm\nHorses on the Hill (in Price Hill)\n1655 Ross Ave\, Cincinnati\, OH 45205\nRegister here \nSaturday\, October 14 @ 9:00 am to 12:00 pm\nMidway School\n3156 Glenmore Ave\, Cincinnati\, OH 45211\nRegister here \nWednesday\, November 8 @ 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm\nHays-Porter Elementary School\n1030 Cutter St\, Cincinnati\, OH 45203\nRegister here \nSunday\, November 12 @ 1:00 to 3:30 pm\nLudlow Kentucky\n413 Montclair Ave Ludlow\, KY 41016\nRegister here \nThursday\, November 16 @ 2:45 pm to 5:45 pm\nMount Washington School\n1730 Mears Ave\, Cincinnati\, OH 45230\nRegister here \nSaturday\, November 18 @ 9:00 am to 12:00 pm\nKennedy Heights “Gateway Grove”\n5815 Kennedy Ave\, Cincinnati\, OH 45213\nRegister here \n**Rescheduled** Wednesday November 29 @ 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm\nFrederick Douglass Elementary School\n2627 Park Ave\, Cincinnati\, OH 45206\nRegister here \nMore Orchard Installations — details TBA soon! \n\nNorth Avondale Montessori\nBellevue

SUMMARY:9th Annual Plaid Friday Hike with Imago
DESCRIPTION:Black Friday? More like\, plaid Friday. Once again we’ll thumb our nose at wanton consumerism by moving our bodies in our beautiful city. Each year we pick a great urban route and head out together to explore\, be in the community\, and enjoy the late fall weather. \nOnce again there are two routes to choose from – a morning easier route\, and an afternoon advanced route. \nHike 1: The Beautiful River Route 9:30 – 12:00. This is a favorite route. We’ll hike along the Ohio River exploring Sawyer Point\, Serpentine Wall\, and northern Kentucky. We’ll cross three bridges and two rivers in this flat and gentle walk.\nThis route is appropriate for strollers. Approximately 4 miles \nHike 2: The Recycling and Reuse Lower Price Hill Route – 1:00 – 4:00. We are excited to co-lead this route with our friends from the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub (CRRH). This route will start at CRRH’s Lower Price Hill headquarters. We’ll get a tour of the space and learn about the mission of this great nonprofit that’s working hard to divert hard-to-recycle materials from the landfill. Our Hub friends will join us on the hike\, so you’ll have lots of time to learn about their work and ways that you can reduce your waste. \nAfter the Hub\, we’ll head out to see the beautiful and underappreciated Lower Price Hill. Lower Price Hill is filled with amazing community projects\, and incredible architecture and buildings. From Lower Price Hill\, we’ll trek up Price Hill on the Incline Run\, a short trail that features the remnants of the old Price Hill Incline. Once on the top of Price Hill\, we’ll enjoy views of the city and take in the Incline District before turning back down the hill to where we started. \nThis route can be done with strollers. This route contains one significant climb. Approximately 4 miles.
