Panel & Art Exhibit Seeks to Redefine "Farm to Cafeteria"

    Join the Brueggeman Center for Dialogue and Greater Cincinnati Regional Food Policy Council for a Farm to Cafeteria panel discussion on Institutional Purchasing of Local Foods. The event also features the launch of Edible City: An Art Atlas, with an interactive art exhibit that visually explores our local foodshed's past, present and future.

    Come eat, drink and discuss improving our local food system. Learn how farmers, connectors and institutional food service providers are redefining Farm to Cafeteria. Wednesday, February 19 from 6:00-9:00 pm. Please RSVP.

    Local Family Events Celebrate Maple Syrup Season 

    Winter offers the opportunity learn about the centuries old practice of harvesting and sugaring maple sap.

    Join Great Parks of Hamilton County for Maple Sugar Days, February 22 and 23, featuring fun activities, crafts, hikes and maple treats. Then head to the Cincinnati Nature Center for Maple on Tap, a family-friendly celebration on February 23, featuring interactive sap collecting hikes, maple trivia and a maple beer by HighGrain Brewing.

    What transportation needs and issues are most important to you? Take a short survey and to provide your input into the future for our region's transportation.

    The OKI 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan will guide regional transportation improvements through the year 2050 by defining the policies, programs, and projects that will be implemented over the next 30 years.

    Greenspace Gem: Valley View Nature Preserve

    Greenspace Gems recognizes and celebrates natural areas in the Greater Cincinnati region with outstanding scenic value, biological diversity, scientific importance, or historic interest. 

    Valley View Nature Preserve is a 190-acre preserve in the City of Milford, that conserves streams, floodplain and upland forests, grasslands planted with prairie species, and ephemeral and riparian wetlands. The site borders over a mile of the East Fork of the Little Miami River. Five miles of trails crisscross the property. Visitors can find a community garden, historic farm buildings and an education center.

    Hamilton County Recycling is hosting a two-day Community Composting Training with the Rust Belt Riders on February 20-21 for those who want to learn how to efficiently create and maintain a small-scale community composting site.

    The Cincinnati Permaculture Institute is hosting an 2020 Winter Permaculture Design Course at Treasure Lake Education Center over five weekends, from February 22 to March 22. 

    The Ohio Ecological Farm and Food Association is hosting the 41st Annual OEFFA Conference, "A Climate For Change," from February 13-15 in Dayton, Ohio.

    The Endangered Species Coalition and National Wildlife Federation is holding a 2020 Saving Endangered Species College Student Art Project. Entries are due by February 16. 

    The World Environment Federation Stormwater Institute is hosting the 2020 National Stormwater Symposium from March 15-17 at the Duke Energy Convention Center. 

    The International WELL Building Institute is hosting the 2020 Well Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona from March 29-April 1. Early bird registration is available until February 17.

    Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District is offering waste innovation grantsof up to $10,000. Proposals will be accepted until funding runs out.

    Boone County Conservation offers grants, technical support, and advice for teacher or student led school conservation projects on an ongoing basis.
