Green Umbrella's Annual Meeting & Celebration

Join us for an in-person celebration to cap another exciting year of growth and impact. We'll be sharing highlights from each of our programs and a glimpse into what's in store for 2023.

Enjoy networking with passionate sustainability champions from across the region and complimentary drinks & lite bites.

All proceeds go to support Green Umbrella's work to lead collaboration, incubate ideas, and catalyze solutions that create a resilient, sustainable region for all.

Common Orchard Project: Compost Update

The Common Orchard Project has had a busy fall! They've installed 8 new orchards for a total of 30 orchards in the region overall.

In addition to the new orchards, the Camp Washington Urban Farm has set up a 500 sq. foot composting area as part of the effort to begin a pilot neighborhood composting program in Northside. Stay tuned on more updates on composting in the next few months!

We'd like to welcome our first orchard sponsor: RegLantern! Reach out to Common Orchard Project Director Chris Smyth at chris@greenumbrella.org to learn more about offsetting carbon emissions by sponsoring a local orchard.

Food Policy Council Takes on Washington DC

Last month, Maddie Chera, Director of the Greater Cincinnati Food Policy Council, represented Green Umbrella in Washington D.C. Maddie met with staff from the offices of Ohio's national legislators to discuss the impacts of US Dept. of Agriculture funding for our region in anticipation of the 2023 Farm Bill. Maddie shared stories of our successes in distributing local food throughout our region, including through our OH-wide Farm To School work, partnerships with food hubs, and more.

The Food Policy Council has helped distribute federal investment through USDA grants in our region before. Visit Maddie's blog for more information on her D.C. trip.
