Green Umbrella Endorses Great Parks Levy

Great Parks’ Master Plan is committed to increasing conservation of critical greenspace, educating the public about the natural environment and what they can do to protect it, increasing the sustainability of the park district’s operations and increasing access to quality greenspace for all residents. All of these priorities help achieve GU’s vision for a resilient, sustainable region for all. Green Umbrella believes our region can move towards this vision faster when Great Parks has the funds to implement its Master Plan.

That's why our Board has taken the exceptional step of

endorsing the 0.95 mill Great Parks levy that is on the ballot for Hamilton County voters this November. This a chance for our community to invest in protecting our natural resources, increasing access to outdoor experiences and time in nature, and connecting our trails network… all of which equitably improve health, environment and quality of life in Hamilton County. Read our endorsement letter here.

Greater Cincinnati 1 of 3 Regions in Equitable Climate Solutions Pilot

Communities of color have faced and will continue to face the worst impacts of climate change due to systemic injustices. It is these communities that should inform our solutions. Green Umbrella and partners (GroundworkORV, Urban League, OKI Regional Council of Governments, Hamilton County Public Health, and Village of Silverton) just completed the

Regional Collaboration for Equitable Climate Solutions (RCECS) pilot, a program led by the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC). RCECS brought together diverse teams to discuss regional climate goals while centering racial equity. Greater Cincinnati was one of three regions invited to participate, and leveraged the pilot to lay the groundwork for the launch of a Regional Climate Collaborative. To learn more about next steps, email Green Umbrella Climate Policy Lead Savannah Sullivan.
