SUMMARY:Meet A Greenspace at Shawnee Lookout!
DESCRIPTION:Join Green Umbrella’s Greenspace Alliance and Great Parks for a Meet A Greenspace Hike on Friday\, January 23rd\, from 3-4:30 pm at Shawnee Lookout! \nOnce home to the indigenous peoples who lived in this region for 10\,000 years\, Shawnee Lookout has since been converted to a golf course and\, more recently\, a park. The landscape is quite hilly\, with over 9\,000 feet of streams that were once buried by culverts during its time as a manicured lawn. Today\, due to the efforts of Great Parks and The Nature Conservancy\, these streams are being restored to the surface through a process called “daylighting”. \nIf you’re interested in learning about local restoration projects or simply want to get outside this winter\, join us for 1 mile hike to learn about the work happening at this historic site! This will be a strenuous and most-likely muddy hike\, as the restoration work will be midway through completion. Please wear proper clothing\, sturdy shoes that can handle mud and snow\, and bring your own water and snacks. \nParking is available at the former clubhouse\, located at 2008 Lawrenceburg Road\, North Bend\, OH\, 45052. \nIf you have any questions\, contact Greenspace Alliance Manager Claire Carlson at claire@greenumbrella.org. \nThe Greenspace Alliance would also like to thank its sponsors\, Duke Energy and the Cincinnati Wildflower Preservation Society\, for making these events possible.

SUMMARY:Energy Management 102 - Audits (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:If you are currently benchmarking your energy usage in your building\, and you have a year or more of historical data\, you are ready to take the next step on the path to efficient energy management: an energy audit. \nBenchmarking is about learning how much energy you use; auditing is about learning what that energy is used for. What are the biggest energy “sinks” in your building? Is it heating and/or cooling? Is it hot water? Is it refrigeration? Computing? Lighting? An energy audit\, conducted by a qualified expert\, can provide the answers to these questions and those answers then become the foundation for your Energy Management Plan. \nThis webinar will provide an overview of energy audits: How to arrange one? How to determine how much detail you need? How much it should cost\, and whether you can qualify for financial support? And what to do once you have the results? \nThere is no pre-requisite for this webinar\, but it is best suited for people who are already familiar with energy benchmarking and\, ideally\, engaged in that process. \nThis event is offered through the 25 Communities Project.
