SUMMARY:Second Annual Orchard Steward Summit
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow orchard stewards from across the Common Orchard Project network for our second annual Orchard Steward Summit. We’ll gather to share stories from the season\, celebrate what’s grown in our orchards this year\, and connect with stewards from other sites. \nThis year features a new participatory budgeting process\, where the group will decide together how to allocate $1\,000 in shared resources across the network. We’ll also unveil an updated network map\, giving stewards a chance to connect directly with orchards they’d like to visit and collaborate with. \nWe’ll have food and refreshments available throughout the gathering\, so come enjoy a meal\, connect with fellow stewards\, and celebrate the season together. \nAll Common Orchard stewards are welcome. \nRSVP here: https://www.commonorchard.com/event-details-registration/second-annual-orchard-steward-summit

SUMMARY:Fall 2026 Orchard Installation In Hillsboro
DESCRIPTION:Join the Common Orchard Project in creating a new public orchard! \nOrchards can be less work to produce food over time compared to vegetable gardens\, but installation is quite labor intensive. To get these new public orchards off to a good start\, we are organizing these volunteer days to make the work lighter for all! Come learn how to plant trees\, fruit tree care\, and meet neighbors who care as much as you do. \nEvent Info: \n\nOctober 5\, Monday\, 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM\nHillsboro Highschool\n550 US-62 Hillsboro OH 45133\n\nWe will be planting 20-24 trees and laying down black plastic to remove the grass. If you are looking for a snapshot into what this might look like\, check out this video we created with a funding partner back in 2022.  \nAll tools and gloves provided\, just bring a water bottle and wear appropriate outdoor clothing to dig holes and plant trees.  \nAdditional Information: \nIf you are able to join and sign up\, please do follow through! It changes our plans and makes these days difficult if people change their minds at the last minute. We will give a reminder and notice of any extreme weather related changes of plans 2 days before the event. \nWe will have locally grown fruit and other snacks. \n
