DESCRIPTION:ZOOM ONLY—register here. \nJoin us for a presentation from Michael Miller. \nFor the past 15 years\, the Citizens Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring program monitored E. coli\, nutrients\, and conductivity to show the linkage between the Ohio River\, the Great Miami River and the Whitewater River in modifying the chemistry of the lakes of Oxbow Inc. These ecosystems are dependent upon timing and magnitude of large discharge events on the GMR\, the Whitewater River\, and the Ohio River. Fish and macroinvertebrate composition depends on these flood events and the low water events in early autumn. Most of the big fish are present only during the winter-spring floods\, leaving the small fish as the food for the fish-eating birds: the white pelicans\, white egrets\, great blue herons\, green herons and kingfishers.

DESCRIPTION:Join Green Umbrella’s Greater Cincinnati Regional Food Policy Council to explore and share resources related to urban food systems! \nCities across the Midwest are digging into urban agriculture and building resilient urban food systems. With support from the RE-AMP Network\, a coalition working to enable collaboration on climate solutions in the Midwest\, the Urban Food Systems Resource Sharing Action Team is building a network to strengthen collaborative relationships\, share ideas and resources\, and gather best practices based on lived experience. \nThe purpose of the network will be to support you – urban farm and food system focused organizations\, food policy councils\, and farmers – in understanding\, accessing\, and coordinating federal\, state\, local\, and private funding available at the intersection of urban food systems and climate change. \nMonthly resource sharing sessions will be held on Zoom\, 2-3:30 pm Central Time (that’s 3-4:3pm ET) on Mondays: July 8\, August 12\, September 9\, October 7\, and November 7. \nThe first session will engage in conversation about key considerations before applying for federal funding\, building strong partnerships\, what you can do to prepare\, and examples of successful urban food system projects.   \nRegister here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYrce2gqzIrHd3aOr8a9gLjGR3pGAA1UJEG. \nThis Action Team project is led by Chicago Food Policy Action Council\, Cultivate Kansas City\, and West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum.
