DESCRIPTION:Course Runs January 13– February 26\, 2026 and includes: \nEvery Tuesday and Thursday night from 6–8 pm on Zoom (Tuesday\, January 13–Thursday\, February 26\, 2026)\nJanuary 13\, 15\, 20\, 22\, 27\, 29\,\nFebruary 3\, 5\, 10\, 12\, 17\, 19\, 24\, 26\n12 hours of fun self-guided outdoor assignments are also required \nRegistration Requirements: Preregistration required. Register by January 12\, 2026. \nRecommended Audience: This program is available to adults and mature teens 16 and up; however\, only participants ages 18 and up who complete the course will receive certification through OSU. \nProgram Description: Cincinnati Nature Center is proud to be a host site and partner with Ohio State University Extension for this 40-hour educational course that encompasses the topics of Ohio’s watersheds\, aquatic life\, geology\, soils\, plants\, forests\, insects\, and animals (reptiles\, amphibians\, birds and mammals). \nEach topic is taught by experts and community stakeholders from across the region. \nTo receive certification\, upon completing the OCVN course participants must document 40 hours of volunteer service and/or continuing education at any Ohio organization with a compatible program mission. In addition\, after certification\, 30 hours of volunteer service and/or continuing education are required annually to remain certified. \nIf you choose not to pursue certification\, you are still welcome to take this course for your own knowledge and enjoyment. \nMore information about the OCVN program can be found on Extension’s Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Page. \nTo understand more about the certification requirements\, visit the OCVN’s Frequently Asked Questions Webpage. \nThe mission of the Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist program is to “promote awareness and citizen stewardship of Ohio’s natural resources through science-based education and community service.” \nThe course is offered throughout the state\, and Cincinnati Nature Center is the largest provider. The evening lectures are live on Zoom\, where you can talk with presenters and classmates in the comfort of your home. SUMMARY:Mutualistic Design: Creating a Permaculture Planet
DESCRIPTION:Join the Sierra Club Educational Forum as we welcome Braden Trauth\, Assistant Professor Industrial Design at University of Cincinnati\, DAAP \nBraden will speak about his work experience and research in sustainable design with a focus on Sustainable Industrial Design\, which is founded in Permaculture and the ecological theory of the keystone species – a theory he pioneered in his Master’s Thesis. Braden has done extensive research in Permaculture Design\, Regenerative Farming\, and Agroecology\, Ecological Energy Theory\, natural and sustainable building\, and sustainable Industrial Design. With his colleagues\, he created the World’s first Regenerative Farming certification approved by the USPTO called Permaganic Authenticated\, which he is still scaling up. He co-founded the Cincinnati Permaculture Institute in 2008\, and he has lectured on Permaculture to the Haitian Ministry of Agriculture and national Agriculture Universities in Haiti. \nBraden continues to research design practices and processes that can help further sustainable/ mutualistic product design and the renewable and non-renewable resources\, manufacturing\, use and environments\, repair and disposal that products are created from and exist within. \nWhen: Monday\, February 2\, 2026\, meet and greet 6:30 PM\, discussion begins 7 PM.\nWhere: Mt.
