SUMMARY:Extreme Heat vs Heat Waves: What can you do?
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is co-hosted by Green Umbrella\, The Center for Collaboration on Climate & Community for Health\, and Cincinnati Museum Center. \nExtreme heat is one of the most significant climate-related health risks facing our communities. Rising temperatures and more frequent heat waves increase the risk of heat exhaustion\, heat stroke\, dehydration\, cardiovascular illness\, and worsening chronic health conditions\, especially for children\, older adults\, outdoor workers\, and other vulnerable populations. Heat also contributes to higher energy costs\, strains infrastructure\, and can worsen air quality by increasing ground-level ozone. \nThis workshop will explore regional climate and health findings on extreme heat\, highlight local initiatives that are increasing community resilience through cooling strategies\, tree canopy expansion\, and neighborhood greening\, and discuss practical actions that residents\, organizations\, and local governments can take to reduce heat exposure and build healthier\, more climate-resilient communities. \nPlease click here to register and participate.
