DESCRIPTION:Join Green Umbrella for the 2026 Local Government Climate Action Showcase from 3:30–5:00 PM on Wednesday\, August 12 at the UC Digital Futures Building (3080 Exploration Avenue\, Cincinnati) in room 140. \nHear from local government leaders and Climate Action Fellows representing: \n\n\nCity of Covington\, KY \n\n\nAnderson Township\, Ohio \n\n\nHamilton County\, Ohio \n\n\nCity of Cincinnati\, Ohio – Innovation Team \n\n\nCity of Oxford\, Ohio \n\n\nVillage of Mariemont\, Ohio \n\n\nGreenspace Alliance \n\n\nGreen & Healthy Schools \n\n\nTogether\, they will share how they started or advanced their climate action planning processes and projects\, covering topics including climate budgeting and procurement\, creating climate and sustainability action plans\, engaging communities\, climate migration\, conducting capacity and needs assessments (including climate risk data collection and analysis)\, and tailored projects related to data and metrics\, greenspace and green infrastructure\, transportation\, storytelling\, extreme weather\, land stability\, schools\, energy benchmarking\, and more! \nGreen Umbrella will also share opportunities that any community can embrace to take the next steps to prepare for environmental change and access funding to improve infrastructure\, build community resilience\, and save money. \nOnly three local governments in our region currently have a sustainability plan. Green Umbrella’s Climate Action Fellowship program pairs undergraduate and graduate students\, as well as individuals looking to pivot careers\, with local governments to develop practical plans and solutions for a changing climate. Local governments receive research support\, added capacity\, and assistance in sustainability planning\, while Fellows gain invaluable public sector experience\, networking opportunities\, and professional development support. \nThe 2026 Climate Action Fellowship is supported by Michelman and The Nature Conservancy. \nThere will also be time to network with Climate Action Fellows\, local government leaders\, and community partners to learn how your community can take the next steps toward climate action. \nThe event will conclude with a Green Drinks networking reception at Somerset Bar from 5:15-7:15 pm. \nThe event is free and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:POSTPONED DUE TO TRAIL CONDITIONS \nJoin Green Umbrella’s Greenspace Alliance\, Cardinal Land Conservancy\, and the Center for Collaboration on Climate and Community for Health (C4H) at Cardinal’s Westmark Woods\, for a Meet A Greenspace Hike on Thursday\, August 13th from 8-9:30 am! \nLocated in Springfield Township\, Westmark Woods is a 25 acre-property and the newest addition to Cardinal’s preserves. The West Fork of the Mill Creek flows through the preserve on the way to Great Park’s Winton Woods. \nThe Center for Collaboration on Climate and Community for Health\, also known as C4H\, is a center at the University of Cincinnati. Founded in 2024\, C4H is among an elite group of 21 centers nationwide with a specific focus on climate-related exposures and the impacts to human health.\n\nThis Meet A Greenspace Hike will be a unique opportunity to explore an urban greenspace alongside an organization working to preserve our natural spaces\, as well as scientists who are working to understand and reduce the impacts of climate exposures on the community.\nThe hike will be an easy to moderate 0.9 miles in length over dirt paths and two bridges and will be guided by staff from Cardinal.  \nPlease dress accordingly\, wear proper shoes for hiking\, and bring plenty of water! We will meet at the park entrance. The Park is located at 872 Compton Rd.\, Cincinnati\, OH 45231. Join us for the Give a Hoot for Oxbow – Invasive Plant Removal on Saturday\, August 15\, from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM\n\nDuring these volunteer days\, we will be tackling one of our biggest conservation challenges: invasive plant species. Events will focus on cutting/pulling honeysuckle\, Japanese chaff flower\, Japanese stiltgrass\, and garlic mustard- all of which will later be replaced with native plants\, with a focus on improving wood duck habitat! DESCRIPTION:Whether you’re a long-time supporter of the Common Orchard Project or brand new to our work\, this is a great opportunity to connect with others in the community while helping care for and grow one of our shared orchard spaces. \nWe host volunteer days on the third Saturday of each month to support ongoing orchard and site development. Volunteers may help with seasonal tasks such as composting\, planting\, nursery work\, and general site care. No prior experience is needed\, everyone is welcome. \nThis is a hands-on\, community-focused workday where you can learn more about the orchard and how the site is cared for while contributing to the long-term health of the site. \nEvent Details\nLocation: Camp Washington Perennial Farm\nAddress: 3220 Colerain Ave\, Cincinnati\, OH\nDate: Third Saturday of the Month\nTime: 9:00 AM-12:00 PM\nSchedule: Third Saturday of each month\nParking: Use the River City lot\, park nearest to the farm entrance and walk over to the farm \nWhat to Expect:\n– Seasonal orchard and farm tasks (varies by month)\n– A welcoming\, collaborative environment\n– Light snacks and water provided\n– Please wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes suitable for outdoor work\n– The farm is still in development\, so ground conditions may be uneven\n– The nearest public restroom is available at Mom & ’Em Coffee nearby \nPossible Monthly Activities \nTo give an idea of the types of projects volunteers may help with throughout the year\, here is a sample list of seasonal activities.
