DESCRIPTION:Join Sierra Club for a fun family day at Lake Cowan. We meet at the state park beach on the South Shore of Lake Cowan off of Yankee Rd. (not the campground beach) at 11 AM. SUMMARY:Early Fall Migrant Shorebirds & Waders - Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:Beat the August heat\, and join Oxbow\, Inc. for an evening bird walk! \nThe southbound fall migration of shorebirds (sandpipers & plovers)\, long-legged waders (herons & egrets) and several other species will be well under way by this date. It is also a great time of year to sometimes find an unusual or rare species such as the Little Blue Heron and Snowy Egret at the Oxbow Nature Conservancy. Birds such as Purple Martins and other migrating swallows stage in large numbers at the preserve during August\, so we expect to see a diverse array of bird species. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a moonlit canoe adventure along the Ohio River! We will be on the river for about an hour and will paddle upriver about 0.5 miles. Depending on water levels\, we may enter the estuary in Crooked Run Nature Preserve. Please note that this paddle is not intended for beginners\, and only water or sports drinks are allowed on the canoes. Naturalists reserve the right to turn registrants away if intoxicated or under the influence. Registration is required but free.
