DESCRIPTION:Join us every Thursday on the farm for some fun in the garden with your preschooler while practicing early reading skills! \nThis 1 hour class is designed for emergent readers ages 3 – 5 years and builds connections between the five senses\, caring for farm animals\, planting and growing food\, pollinators\, bugs\, farm machines\, and more with early literacy components (reading\, writing\, listening\, speaking\, viewing\, and visualization). \nEach class will begin with a song/story/activity component indoors and continue with a trip to the garden or farmyard. \nThis is a fun\, age-appropriate class with lots of hands-on activities for a child/caregiver team paired with the best in children’s literature.

DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in learning more about growing medicinal plants? Join local herbalist Meghan Henshaw in a living green classroom. The Melrose Medicinal Garden is a community garden located at 2647 Melrose Ave in the Walnut Hills neighborhood of Cincinnati. Garden workdays happen most Thursdays 10am-noon during the growing season. \nWork alongside a team of volunteers weeding\, harvesting\, & caring for a plethora of medicinal perennials thriving in an urban greenspace. Each volunteer day\, we work together on a variety of tasks\, then enjoy herbal tea in the garden. Interested volunteers can email Meghan at ocotilloherbals@gmail.com to be added to a volunteer email list. Volunteers must RSVP at least 48 hours before each workday.
