The Green Umbrella Farm to School Impact Team would like to invite you to participate in an upcoming Farm to School planning event focused on developing Farm to School procurement solutions for school districts in our region.
Date and Time:
Monday, March 16 from 1 to 4 PM
Gorman Heritage Farm
10052 Reading Road
Evendale, Ohio 45241
The Farm is located behind the Daniel Beard Scout Center on Reading Road and we share the same driveway. The light is Formica Drive to the West and Gorman Heritage Farm Lane to the East.
To bring representatives from our partner school districts together with other key stakeholders within the supply chain in order to share each district’s visions and goals, brainstorm on strategies to overcome barriers, and build consensus on which strategies to prioritize in terms of the development of regional resources.
The Farm to School Procurement Summit is possible due to the USDA Farm to School Planning Grant awarded to Green Umbrella in July 2019 to assist in the development of a regional Farm to School Action Plan in partnership with Campbell County Public Schools, Cincinnati Public Schools, Little Miami Local School District, Mt. Healthy City Schools and West Clermont Local Schools. The goal of the grant is to develop implementable strategies for increasing local food in school menus, overcoming production and distribution barriers, integrating food production and nutrition education into classrooms, and better connecting the broader community to farm to school programming.
May include menu planning, leveraging buying coop resources, distribution and processing needs, grower development, kitchen assessments and marketing needs.
