JOINT MEETING: Transportation and Energy Action Team Meeting

  • June 16, 2017
  • 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • OKI Regional Council of Governments 720 E. Pete Rose Way Cincinnati, Ohio 4th floor - Suite 420

A joint meeting of the Green Umbrella Transportation and Energy Action Teams! This event will offer a special presentation and discussion on the future of the electric vehicle market. EV industry pioneers from the Tesla team will be on hand to help illuminate how this industry is evolving and how the transportation and energy sectors will be affected.  Ellen Eilers, Clean Fuels Ohio will also be joining the discussion to share ways our teams can engage and help facilitate drive and ride events in the region onNational Drive Electric Week (September 9-17).

With a drastic drop in battery prices (70% since 2009) and a rise in vehicle range (mass marketed vehicles reaching 200 miles per charge), the EV market is poised for a rapid transformation. By 2040, EVs are expected to represent 35% of light auto sales (approximately 41 million cars). The Tesla family of companies will soon include a $5 billion lithium-ion battery factory, currently being built in Nevada, which will double the world’s current output of lithium-ion batteries—a likely game changer for further reducing cost and scaling up production. With the continued growth of solar, we are starting to see a future where our buildings and our vehicles will be powered off renewable energy. Where do we fit in and what comes next? The Energy Action Team and the Transportation Action Team are excited to present this discussion and dialogue on this important topic.

Don’t Miss This - Between Noon and 1:00 on the 16th - Tesla will have vehicles on hand (in the OKI parking lot west of building) to help illuminate our understanding of how this technology works.
