2020 Goal: Reduce waste disposed in the residential/commercial sector by 33% as we transition to “zero waste”.

Our Mission

The Waste Reduction team brings together recycling directors, solid waste management coordinators, corporate sustainability managers, waste haulers, educators and advocates to develop strategies to dramatically reduce waste by promoting reuse, recycling and reduction.

Action Plan

The team has co-sponsored educational forums on commercial and institutional composting, organized and promoted e-waste collection events, and launched a region-wide paper recycling campaign. Our current campaign focuses on reducing Food Waste, which makes up over a fifth of our landfill volume. Look below for resources to learn more about how you (as an individual, school, organization or business) can reduce the amount of food going to our landfills.
