    Organization: Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District

    Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District is looking for volunteers to label storm drains in their community. Volunteers will place labels on storm drains and distribute door-hangers that explain why it is important to keep pollution out of our storm drains, and how they can help to keep our creeks, rivers, and lakes pollution free.     The Madisonville Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation is now accepting volunteers for planting daffodil bulbs along the Little Duck Creek Trail. The bulbs should be planted during November.     Organization: 50 West Brewery and Great Parks 

    Join 50 West Brewing, 50 West Cycling and Great Parks on Sunday, October 23 from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. to make a difference!

    The day kicks off at 50 West Cycling with free coffee and donuts, then volunteers can throw on some gloves, grab a bag and head out on the Little Miami Scenic Trail.

    Afterwards, all are welcome to head over to the brewery for lunch and a cold one.

    Organization: Our Harvest

    Title: Harvest Day Site Coordinator
    Location: (Varies)
    Time Commitment: 4 hrs/wk, September – November 2016
    Scheduling: 2 hours Tuesday and 2 hours Friday*

    *tentative hours- may vary depending on the needs of specific site location

    Position Summary: Support the mission of the Harvest Day Program in food access by serving as the point of contact between Harvest Day participants, the local, site, and Our Harvest Cooperative. The site coordinator will update and maintain order forms, receive orders and payments, input necessary information in database, distribute orders to participants and take payments. Maintains a professional demeanor and respectfully keeps all participant information strictly confidential.

    Qualifications: Desire to help improve community health and expand access to fresh food, basic computer knowledge, attention to detail and mathematical skills, strong communication skills, comfortable working in low-income neighborhoods with diverse populations, ability to lift 40 pounds, and ability to relay information to the appropriate channels while maintaining complete confidentiality.

    COMMUNICATE SITE INFORMATION

    • Serve as the point of contact between Our Harvest Cooperative, specific site location, and participants. Relay any necessary information between the three such as:

    1. Communicate pick up day and time to participants through appropriate channels

    2. Answer participant questions and concerns and direct accordingly

    PRICE & DISSEMINATE ORDER FORMS

    • Receive Harvest Day Availability email
    • Input determined site prices for produce items
    • Before disseminating forms check availability in online site https://ourharvest.localfoodmarketplace.com/Account/Login
    • Make corrections of items if necessary
    • Distribute order forms

    COLLECT ORDERS, ACCEPT PAYMENT & SUBMIT ORDERS

    • Collect individual order forms and payment-

    Cash: Give accurate change to participants

    Check: Confirm name, address, and amount on the check and write driver's license #

    Credit Card: Run card through reader, give customer receipt and file merchant receipt

    EBT: Deduct accurate amount for Produce Perks (up to $10) and run card- see above

    • Submit orders in Local Food Marketplace ASAP (preferably real time)

    If a change in availability occurs, communicate necessary information to participants

    DISTRIBUTE PRODUCE

    • Receive orders on determined date and distribute

    Distributing options:

    1. organize produce into the individual orders or

    2. allow participants to use their order forms as they walk around categorized produce and collect their share

    • Facilitate the scales for items sold by weight
    • Answer participant questions and direct them appropriately

    CLOSE OUT

    • Pack up crates used for the distribution (to be collected later by Our Harvest)
    • If any unclaimed produce attempt to contact customer- if unsuccessful donate produce
    • Total and sort payments

    * If using as a fundraiser - separate the wholesale amount from the total order. Retain fundraiser funds for organization and then mail wholesale payment

    Join Imago and become a volunteer for the 15th annual Music in the Woods on September 17. Volunteers are crucial in making sure that Music in the Woods is a success. Give a little bit of your time and energy and in return you get to spend the rest of the day at Music in the Woods for free!

    Organizations: Our Harvest/Rees E. Price Academy

    The tentative hours would be 1:30 - 3:30 pm on Tuesday and Thursday with an average of 3 - 4 hours per week. The program will run from September to October with a possibility of an extension contingent on its success. Families will order on Thursday based on what is ripe in the fields, and will pick up their orders on Tuesday. The person or people volunteering would have to be good at handling money, inputting information into a computer, and with customer service (answering questions, helping if there was confusion, etc). It would also be important that they could be here on a consistent basis.

    Organization: Gorman Heritage Farm

    Education Volunteers needed!

    Teach school-aged children about where their food comes from through hands-on, experiential learning at Gorman Heritage Farm in Evendale, Ohio. At this working farm we train volunteers to lead small groups to learning stations around the gardens and in the farmyard. We host school groups Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Most programs last about two hours and begin between 9am and 10am. Volunteer as little or as often as your schedule allows. Please visit our website to learn about our school programs.     Become a Nature Center Volunteer

    Volunteers are important members of the Cincinnati Nature Center community and play an integral role in the daily operation of the Nature Center.

    Each year, our dedicated volunteers give thousands of hours of their time to teach visitors about nature, preserve and restore the land, and assist with events and office duties.
