Organization: City of Covington

City of Covington is having a volunteer-driven tree planting event October 26 (Make a Difference Day). In order to spread the wealth across more of the city, this year we’ve elected to do mini-plantings in five neighborhoods. Planting will begin at 9am, and you can’t meet at whatever location you’d like to participate at:

  • Eastside – vacant lots at 304-308 Pleasant
  • Latonia – parking lot at 36th and Decoursey
  • Mainstrasse – 6th street island between Bakewell and Philadelphia
  • Peaselburg – triangular lawn at intersection of Russel and W 18th
  • Wallace Woods – wide driveway by 225 Sterrett, at curve in road

Species we’ll be planting will vary by neighborhood needs, and include redbuds, northern pin oaks, patriot elms, fruitless sweetgums, and many more! Volunteers are encouraged to bring shovels, gloves, or other planting supplies if they have them available, but the city will also be providing tools to make sure these trees get planted.
