Farm Internship (unpaid) - Gorman Heritage Farm

Interns will have a unique opportunity to work hands-on with a variety of livestock such as equines, cattle, goats, sheep, poultry, rabbits, and swine. Interns will be responsible for the care and maintenance of Gorman’s animals, barns, animal pens, etc. Interns will also have an opportunity to meet with a variety of agriculture, education and nonprofit professionals to further enhance their knowledge.

Roles/Responsibilities:

Farmyard

● Care/maintenance of production and education animals

● Animal behavior modification projects

● Farmyard maintenance

● Animal docents for farmyard

● Livestock record keeping

● Pasture management Crops/Grounds Management

● Grounds keeping

● Mowing and weed eating

● Crop management

● Trail maintenance Qualifications:

● Applicant must be working towards a 2-4 year degree in Biology, Animal Science,

● Environmental Science, Education, or related field

● Applicant must be able to lift 50lbs

● Applicant must be highly motivated and hard working

● Applicant must be comfortable around and with animals

● Applicant must demonstrate a commitment to working with staff, volunteers, adults, and children


Working Conditions:

● All interns are unpaid, but we are happy to help with your unique internship requirements.

● Interns will be exposed to all weather conditions

● Interns will be exposed to a variety of different animals ● Interns are required to regularly stand and walk for long periods of time

● Interns are expected to wear appropriate farm attire (jeans/shorts, t-shirt, boots, work gloves)
