Organization: Green Umbrella
Green Umbrella is seeking a GIS intern to work approximately 15-20 hours per week on its Tri-State Trails initiative starting in April. The GIS Intern will work closely with the Tri-State Trails Director to assist with our Trail Monitoring Program and manage data for our 10-county Regional Trails Plan. This is a paid internship.

Green Umbrella is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and enthusiastic undergraduate or graduate student with a passion for the outdoors as well as an interest in environmental sustainability. The position requires basic understanding of ArcGIS, a strong work ethic, data management skills, and attention to detail. Candidates should be comfortable working independently as well as with a supervisor.
About the Position:
This internship with Green Umbrella provides a chance to learn more about both the nonprofit sector and environmental sustainability efforts within the Greater Cincinnati region, with a specific focus on active transportation, outdoor recreation, and trails. This is a paid internship with a stipend of $750per month. Interns will work on average of 15-20 hours per week. Schedule can generally be flexible. The intern will work out of the Green Umbrella office in Madisonville and frequently visit trails around our 10-county service area. There will be some evening and weekend hours required.
Deploy automated trail counters on trails around Greater Cincinnati
Collect and manage data from automated trail counters
Manage Regional Trails Plan data to ensure data integrity
Research community plans and historical data to incorporate in Regional Trails Plan
Collect and assemble data for trail access points, amenities, and other relevant data layers
Assist in maintaining Regional Trails Plan data in ArcGIS online
Data entry for contact databases and online calendar as needed
Represent Green Umbrella and Tri-State Trails at community events (e.g. staffing table or booth) as needed
Answer Green Umbrella office phones
