Green Umbrella is seeking a Communication and Events intern to work approximately 20 hours per week on its Tri-State Trails initiative starting in April. The Communication and Events Intern will work closely with the Tri-State Trails Director to assist with our events and online presence.

Our mission is to connect people and places with a regional trails network that enhances vibrancy and equity in our community.
Green Umbrella is a nonprofit alliance working to maximize the environmental sustainability of the Greater Cincinnati Region by driving collaborative efforts through member organizations and individuals. Green Umbrella facilitates collaboration among over 200 area non-profits, businesses, educational institutions, and governmental entities focused on the environmental aspects of sustainability. Our vision is to have our region recognized as one of the top 10 most sustainable metro areas in the U.S. by 2020.
The position requires excellent written and verbal communications skills, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail. Previous experience in social media management, email marketing, and event planning, strongly preferred. Experience Adobe Creative Suite is highly desirable. Candidates should be comfortable working independently as well as with a supervisor.
About the Position:
This internship with Green Umbrella provides a chance to learn more about both the nonprofit sector and environmental sustainability efforts within the Greater Cincinnati region, with a specific focus on transportation, outdoor recreation, and trails. This is a paid internship with a stipend of $500 per month. Interns will work on average 20 hours per week. Hours can generally be flexible. The intern will work out of the Green Umbrella office in Madisonville. There will likely be some evening and weekend hours required, dependent upon Green Umbrella’s event calendar.
· Create compelling and original social media content for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to promote our region’s trails
· Prepare content for monthly Tri-State Trails Tribune e-newsletter
· Assist with planning and execution of Greater Cincinnati Bike Month (May 2018)
· Assist with planning and execution of annual Regional Trails Summit (August 31, 2018)
· Represent Green Umbrella and Tri-State Trails at community events (e.g. staffing table or booth) as needed
- Data entry for contact databases and online calendar as needed
- Answer Green Umbrella office phones
