Position Overview  

Cincinnati Nature Center seeks an External Relations Intern to assist with planning and execution of major organizational events and programs. This position will have responsibility for the following:


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • SPECIAL EVENTS:  Assist with planning, promotion, and implementation of Nature Center events, including our annual fundraiser, Back to Nature, and campaign cultivation events.  These events may fall after hours or on weekends.

  • OTHER DUTIES:  Assists with other projects as needed and assigned within the External Relations Department.

Education and Competencies:

  • Must be a junior or senior at NKU, UC, or XU

  • Must be able to effectively tell the Nature Center’s story, in persona and in writing.


Communication:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information


Qualifications:

  • Background in development, marketing, PR, or communication preferred

  • Experience planning and implementing successful social media programs

  • Collaborative working style

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Great customer service skills

  • Must enjoy people and be able to interact easily

  • A sense of humor, creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • General interest in nature and the environment

  • Must pass a background check

  • Willingness to take charge of projects and see through to successful completion.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in Word, Power Point, Excel and other related software


Work Environment:

  • The work is performed indoors in an office environment and outdoors in the nature preserve.

  • Local travel may be required. Some travel to regional conferences may be required. When a Nature Center vehicle is not available, the use of personal vehicle (reimbursed at IRS recommended rate) may be needed for Cincinnati Nature Center business.


Physical Demands:

  • This position requires the following physical activities: pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
