General Description

The Outdoor Education Intern is an integral part of the education team, and works with education staff to organize and develop curriculum and to design and present education programs. Depending on time of year, and intern’s availability the curriculum and programs can be for summer camps, our Branching Out Programs for Urban Youth, or for specific education opportunities.

Schedule and Location

Available Year Round. Time of year determines what opportunities are available. Time Commitment is about 3-5 hours per week. The only opportunity to work remotely is doing curriculum development. All other work happens at Imago or one of our partner sites.


Intern duties and responsibilities can be tailored somewhat to meet the intern’s interest.

Responsibilities MAY include:

  • Education: Co-present education programs in partnership with other education team members. Depending on the program that you are involved with this can include presenting or supporting summer camps, or presenting or supporting other programs.
  • Curriculum Development: Work closely with education team to organize existing curriculum and research and develop new curriculum for summer camps or our other programs.


  • Must be an excellent communicator and have great written and oral communications skills
  • If developing curriculum, must be comfortable following directions and guidance, be self-motivated and be open to feedback.
  • If teaching or co-teaching programs must be comfortable working directly with children, and be comfortable working in the outdoors (cold, rainy, muggy, buggy, etc).
  • If working with children, must pass a criminal background check.
