Green Umbrella is seeking a GIS intern to work approximately 20 hours per week on its Tri-State Trails initiative starting in October. The Tri-State Trails Intern will work closely with the Tri-State Trails Director to update its 10-county Regional Trails Plan and publish it in ArcGIS online. This is a paid internship.

Green Umbrella is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and enthusiastic college or graduate student with a passion for the outdoors as well as an interest in environmental sustainability. The position requires basic understanding of ArcGIS, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail. Candidates should be comfortable working independently as well as with a supervisor.
About the Position:
This internship with Green Umbrella provides a chance to learn more about both the nonprofit sector and environmental sustainability efforts within the Greater Cincinnati region, with a specific focus on transportation, outdoor recreation, and trails. This is a paid internship with a stipend of $500 per month. Interns will work on average 20 hours per week. Hours can be flexible. The intern will generally work out of the Green Umbrella office. There will likely be some evening and weekend hours required, dependent upon Green Umbrella’s event calendar.
- Manage Regional Trails Plan data to ensure data integrity
- Research community plans and historical data to incorporate in Regional Trails Plan
- Collect and assemble data for trail access points, amenities, and other relevant data layers
- Assist in publishing and maintaining Regional Trails Plan data in ArcGIS online
- Prepare Regional Trails Plan data for network analyses
- Data entry for contact databases and online calendar as needed
- Represent Green Umbrella and Tri-State Trails at community events (e.g. staffing table or booth) as needed
- Answer Green Umbrella office phones
