About the position:
The Production Team Member is involved in all aspects of farm production, including: seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing, packing, manning our farm stand and CSA pickups, and more.
About Our Harvest Cooperative: Our Harvest Co-op is a union worker-owned cooperative that farms using organic practices and operates a food hub that provides aggregation, distribution, and technical assistance for local growers while serving as a centralized source of local produce for institutions, individuals, grocery stores, restaurants, and other retail and wholesale buyers. Our Harvest Cooperative is committed to creating family-sustaining jobs in Greater Cincinnati; producing sustainably-grown, local produce; and building a food hub to strengthen the local food system and increase access to healthy food. Our Harvest farms on two properties -- one in the College Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati and one near Morrow, OH.
Responsibilities:
*Work primarily with the Farm Manager and other production team members to complete field tasks that may include, but are not limited to: seeding, transplanting, planting, weeding, harvesting, washing, packing, pest management, watering, and operating equipment, entering production data
*Machine operation including: BCS, tractor, transplanter, weedwhacker, refrigerated truck
*Work quickly and efficiently to ensure all harvest and production tasks are completed in a timely manner
*Participate constructively in weekly team meetings
*Assist with harvest and production record-keeping including excel and Google Keep phone app
*Be a part of the farm team rotation manning the farm stand, CSA pickups, and writing a short update for the weekly newsletter
*Assist in insuring quality and accuracy of all produce orders leaving the farm
*Lead and manage students, volunteers, apprentices in farm tasks
Requirements:
*Willingness to work one weekend day per month
*Experience in gardening and/or vegetable production
*Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs
*Experience doing physically demanding work outdoors and in hoop house conditions
*Reliable transportation to both farm locations (College Hill and Morrow, OH)
*Become a member of the UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers) Union
*Regular email correspondence
*Ability to work with minimal supervision
*Flexibility, resourcefulness, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Duration and Compensation: This is a full-time (40 hours per week), paid position. Weekend work will be required at least one weekend day per month. This position is seasonal (most likely May-November), with the possibility of year-round work.
