General Description

The Ohio Environmental Council and its family of organizations seek to hire a full-time Communications Coordinator to support the growth of its communications program.

The Coordinator is responsible for the development of print and digital content for the OEC and its family of organizations. The Coordinator additionally manages all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube/Vimeo), including paid tactics. The Coordinator supports the organization in editing content, updating the website, and analyzing the performance of communications tactics to build an efficient and impactful program. This position reports to the Communications Director and is based in OEC’s Columbus or Cleveland office. 

Job Responsibilities & Performance Expectations

Reporting to the Communications Director, the Coordinator’s primary roles will be content creation and management of digital platforms for the OEC family of organizations. Responsibilities include:

  • Create written and visual content for print and digital platforms (website, action alerts, email marketing, newsletters)
  • Manage social media accounts for the OEC family of organizations
  • Manage paid digital ads
  • Manage content creation and updates for the website
  • Manage content creation for Annual Report, newsletters, and other printed publications as needed
  • Work with Communications Team to analyze key performance indicators of digital tactics and regularly report results to relevant staff; 
  • Research and test best digital platforms to maximize membership engagement;
  • Conduct work through the lens of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion to ensuring all Ohioans have equal access to the environmental movement


Required Skills:

  • Past experience with and/or a desire to learn digital communication design and basic website updates
  • Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while meeting deadlines and juggling multiple priorities in a results-oriented environment

Desired Skills:

  • Past experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva

This position is full-time, exempt, pays between $38,293-$46,801, and is within the bargaining unit represented by the OEC Workers United.
