GAF is a highly motivated service organization focused on using the assets of Greenacres to provide custom-designed hands-on active learning opportunities for children of all ages. All opportunities are customized to the needs of the visiting group which primarily consist of local school groups from K to 8. All school based programs are tied to the national and/or state standards so that they contribute to the success of the classroom teacher.

In 1988 we focused on Environment Education, had one employee and provided hands-on programs about riparian zones for 60 children. Each year we provide programs based on the environment, generative agriculture, equine, and classical arts to over 32,000 visitors. Our programs are of the highest quality. They should be. Agriculture practices are on a continuum. Conventional agriculture, which makes up most of the production in the US, is driven by yields leading to an input-intensive, specialized approach focusing on soil chemistry rather than soil biology (i.e. soil as a living, biological ecosystem). Organic agriculture, currently less than 2% of American farmland, varies in scale and practice – ranging from soil health-centric to degenerative in nature. Organic agriculture, at scale, is likewise dependent on external inputs, albeit in natural forms such as manure, compost, and approved pesticides and herbicides. Heavy tillage – which leads to the loss of top soil, interrupts the water cycle, and negatively impacts soil biology – is often a requirement for organic crop production. The goal of regenerative agriculture is to replenish the health of degraded soils by following a set of soil health principles including minimal tillage, increased biodiversity and year-round plant cover. A key aspect of regenerative practices is integrating livestock into cropping systems – a reversal of the segregation and specialization brought forth by conventional agriculture. A key difference between regenerative and organic/sustainable practices is the ability to minimize the requirement for external inputs. A Generative approach to farming focuses on biological cycles, not chemical inputs, to increase the productivity of our soils. Through this approach we continuously build health and resiliency into our land and production system. Greenacres chooses this path because we do not inherit the land from our grandparents, we borrow it from our children…and we must repay that debt with interest.


Greenacres is a working farm located on 400+ acres in Brown County, Ohio. We are looking for a hardworking and quality minded Farm Manager who will continue to add value to our mission. Our Farm Manager will complete required tasks including: management of staff, animal care and treatment, animal housing cleaning and maintenance, rotational grazing, cover cropping and pasture management. The Farm Manager is a key position and must have a strong belief and commitment to generative agriculture, grass based husbandry, holistic management, and humane management of livestock, improving soil health, and the time proven power of grass fed and finished Black Angus Genetics. Education is our primary mission so the Farm Manager will also contribute to creating exceptional experiences for visitors to the farm.


 Work collaboratively with the Director of Agriculture to ensure Greenacres mission, 4G’s, and 3Q’s are met.

 Implementation of best livestock practices and building functional teams that employ consistent practices in managing the livestock assets on our farms.

 Collaborate with each department within Greenacres to support the advancement of the mission.

 Work collaboratively with the education departments to help support educational programming when needed.

 Work collaboratively with the research department to manage livestock impact and pasture development for research projects as required.

 Complete daily farm tasks ensuring efficiencies and opportunities for improvement.

 Responsible for the budget of livestock enterprises including grass-fed cattle, sheep, pasture-raised broiler chickens, and turkeys; layer chickens; woodland/pasture-raised hogs and other animals as required.

 Responsible for training and managing farm staff in the completion of daily chores.

 Accurate recording of all livestock events using software-based programs and Excel spreadsheets and ensuring all animal registrations are up to date and complete.

 Oversee design and safety of all livestock enclosures, fencing, and facility.

 Coordinate purchases and delivery of hay, animal feeds, supplements, seed, lime, and fertilizer.

 Primary operator of required equipment and machinery including; tractors, bush hog, no-till seeder, skid steer loader, XUV, and other necessary implements.

 Manages pastures to optimize quantity and quality of forage by rotating stock creating a positive environmental impact and utilizing cover crop programs to continually improve soil health.

 This position is responsible for ensuring the security of the property, equipment, and livestock.

 Arranging for regular maintenance of field equipment, machinery, and farm buildings.

 Write and manage work order requests and Idea Submissions for operational improvements.

 Other duties as assigned.

Do you have what it takes?

 Bachelor of Science degree or minimum of 4 years farming experience.

 Experience with calving, cattle handling, and administration of medications, sheep management, poultry management, and forage/crop management preferred.

 Able to troubleshoot issues as they arise during the completion of duties.

 Highly motivated and self-driven individual with attention to detail.

 Ability to prioritize task and multitask independently.

 Managing accurate and up to date livestock and production records.

 Ability to work with both internal and external partners with the same or very different backgrounds to ensure that all who visit Greenacres get the highest quality experience that addresses their needs.

 Ability to work in all agricultural buildings (including poultry barns, cattle handling facility, pastures) under all weather conditions with no limitations.

 Ability to regularly work 45 hours per week (may fluctuate based on season and project requirements).

 Ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs. and move equipment and materials commensurate with the position.

 Commitment to working within a functional team and collaborative culture.

 Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record required.

 Travel may be required to any Greenacres property.

 Ability to successfully pass a post-offer pre-employment drug test and fingerprint FBI background screen.
