SUMMARY:Trail Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Registration Requirements: Preregistration required. \nRecommended Audience: This program is designed for adults. Children of any age are more than welcome with the understanding that it is an adult yoga class\, so children under 13 years of age may not be able to do everything or stay interested in the class. Adults will have to decide how much management of their children they are interested in doing. \nProgram Description: Connect to nature in a deeper way through the mindful movement and meditative practices found in yoga. During this on-the-trail experience\, participants might draw upon the stability of trees for balancing postures or extend into a turtle pose by the pond. Become part of nature by meditating in a creek\, hugging trees\, and breathing in the life force around you. All levels are welcome. \nAbout the Guides: Diane H. Schmidt uses her years of experience as a certified Kripalu Yoga instructor to guide others through a gentle yoga experience that brings in elements of nature. As the founder of the first Cincinnati yoga studio\, Cincinnati Yoga School and Bookstore\, Diane has led many yoga classes and developed her style that focuses on gentle stretches and mindful movement to help soothe stress. \nAmber Tucker has been volunteering for several years and has used yoga to heal from a medical setback. Nature is her sanctuary\, and she looks forward to guiding others in discovering harmony between movement\, breath\, and the natural world. \nWhat to Expect: No prior yoga experience is necessary to enjoy this class. SUMMARY:Fall 2026 Orchard Installation In Gamble Montessori Elementary
DESCRIPTION:Join the Common Orchard Project in creating a new public orchard! \nOrchards can be less work to produce food over time compared to vegetable gardens\, but installation is quite labor intensive. To get these new public orchards off to a good start\, we are organizing these volunteer days to make the work lighter for all! Come learn how to plant trees\, fruit tree care\, and meet neighbors who care as much as you do. \nEvent Info: \n\nOctober 24\, Saturday\, 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM\nGamble Montessori Elementary\n2700 Felicity Pl\, Cincinnati\, OH 45211\n\nWe will be planting ~10 trees and laying down black plastic to remove the grass. If you are looking for a snapshot into what this might look like\, check out this video we created with a funding partner back in 2022.  \nAll tools and gloves provided\, just bring a water bottle and wear appropriate outdoor clothing to dig holes and plant trees.  \nAdditional Information: \nIf you are able to join and sign up\, please do follow through! It changes our plans and makes these days difficult if people change their minds at the last minute. We will give a reminder and notice of any extreme weather related changes of plans 2 days before the event. \nWe will have locally grown fruit and other snacks. \n

SUMMARY:Upcycling Toolkit Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Green Umbrella’s Food Policy Council and Hamilton County Public Health’s WeTHRIVE! initiative will be co-hosting a webinar to share our newly published Upcycling Kitchen Toolkit! This webinar will briefly highlight the contents of this resource and provide insights into this work from organizations who operate upcycling kitchens. \nYou will get the opportunity to hear from: \nKatie Funk – Inspire and Innovation Director\, La Soupe \nAmanda DeLotelle – Executive Director\, Miami Valley Meals \nGeorgine Getty – Executive Director\, Our Daily Bread \nUpcycling Kitchens play a key role in our food system. They transform surplus\, imperfect\, or by-product foods\, such as cosmetically flawed produce\, into nutritious meals. By bridging food rescue\, local producers\, and consumers\, they cut landfill waste and methane emissions while creating jobs and expanding access to affordable\, nutritious food for all. \nWhether you want to learn more about upcycling diverted food or have an existing commercial space that could be used to help transformation efforts\, this webinar will serve as a jumping off point! \nKeep an eye out for more hands-on training in 2027\, as we dive deeper into bringing this toolkit to life for interested partners.
